BUTTERMILK

How to Make

If you have a recipe that calls for buttermilk, you can make your own with just milk and lemon (or lime) juice. This easy buttermilk substitute helps baked goods rise and keeps them tender!

To make it, combine 1 tablespoon of lemon or lime juice per cup of milk. Apple cider vinegar works too!

Whisk together and let the mixture sit for about 5 minutes. Then use it in almost any recipe that calls for buttermilk.

"This recipe is a huge 'AH - HA' moment for me but it's saved me SO many times from needing to buy an entire container of buttermilk. So helpful!" -Melitta
