In a large bowl, whisk together flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.

Use a pastry blender to cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until the pieces are small. Then, toss in the chopped dates.

Whisk together cream and maple syrup. Add to the dry ingredients and fold the mixture together until a dough forms.

Press the dough into a round about 1" thick on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for 1 hour.

Cut the dough into 8 separate pieces. Brush the tops with a mixture of cream and maple syrup, and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
