FOR HALLOWEEN

SPIDER WEB CUPCAKES

These fun and festive spider web cupcakes are perfect for celebrating Halloween. Made with moist pumpkin chocolate cake and sweet, spiced cream cheese frosting, they taste as good as they look!

To make them, start by whisking together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, allspice, and salt.

In a second bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, yogurt or sour cream, a small amount of white vinegar, and vanilla extract.

In a third bowl or stand mixer, beat together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Then beat in one egg plus an additional egg yolk.

Alternating mixing the dry and wet ingredients into the butter and sugar until everything is incorporated. Then, fold in mini chocolate chips.

Transfer the batter to a muffin pan lined with paper liners, filling each cup about 3/4 full. Bake at 350ºF for 25 minutes.

Let the fully-baked cupcakes cool completely on a wire rack before frosting. Meanwhile, let's make the chocolate spider webs!

Melt chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and transfer the melted chocolate to a piping bag fitted with a small round tip.

Pipe spider webs onto the parchment paper. Let the webs set at room temperature or in the refrigerator while you make the frosting.

In a mixer, beat together butter, cream cheese, confectioner's sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, allspice, and a pinch of salt. Mix in gel food color to turn it a vivid orange.

Pipe frosting onto the cooled cupcakes using a large open star piping tip. Finish each cupcake off with a chocolate spider web garnish.  Kids and adults alike will love this Halloween dessert!
