Ingredients

Chicory Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup ground chicory*
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla bean powder

New Orleans Cold Brew Coffee

  • ice
  • 8 ounces water
  • 1 Java House Dual- Use Liquid Coffee Pod (I like their Sumatran dark roast for this recipe)
  • 2 tablespoons chicory syrup
  • 3 tablespoons half-n-half

Instructions

Chicory Simple Syrup

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan set over medium-low heat.
  2. Heat, stirring often, until sugar has dissolved and chicory has steeped into mixture.
  3. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a jar and keep refrigerated.

New Orleans Cold Brew Coffee

  1. Add water, Java House Dual-Use Liquid Coffee pod, and chicory syrup to a tall glass or jar filled with ice and stir together.
  2. Top with half-n-half, stir, and enjoy!

Notes

*Many times chicory is found in a blend for brewing that contains barley or other gluten-containing ingredients. Look for pure chicory to keep this recipe gluten-free.
